CanadaInfoNet Welcomes New Mentors!
To become a CanadaInfoNet Mentor, you must meet the following requirements:
- You are a person who has a basic understanding of the challenges newcomers face.
- You have a familiarity with Canadian immigration issues.
- You are, or have been, a professional, business, or trades person.
- You have worked a minimum of two years in Canada in a specific business industry, trade, or profession.
If you meet these criteria and would like to be a Mentor, please read our rules of conduct and fill out our online form that will be submitted automatically to our Mentoring Coach. Please be advised that you will need to provide one business reference in order to join CanadaInfoNet. Your application will be reviewed and the Mentoring Coach will contact you, via e-mail, to confirm any details.
Mentors are provided with an online Training ToolKit and they have access to online support via the Mentoring Coach's Discussion Group. This interactive session offers Mentors information on issues of Settlement, Education, and Employment for newcomers in Canada. This session also outlines CanadaInfoNet policies and offers helpful suggestions for creating beneficial mentoring relationships.
There is also a Mentor's Discussion Group. This forum allows Mentors to network with other Mentors.
Once you are accepted to our Mentoring Community, your profile will be added to the e-Mentor Program for Mentees to review and select from. The CanadaInfoNet search engine will allow Mentees to select a Mentor who has similar interests based on education, work experience, and background.
If there is any reason you think a particular Mentee might not be appropriate for you, or that they might benefit more from someone else's experience, please contact us at
